How to live like a king in Munich

There’s no better excuse than a birthday to decide spending a weekend in one of the cutest city ever, including visiting one of the most famous and outstanding castle ever.

In November we went to Munich and finally we went to Neuschwanstein castle. You should really consider spending a weekend on visiting this two places, and if you are planning on doing it, here’s our guide!

What to do see and do:

Wandering around the city center: yeah I know, not very specific. Munich’s city center is actually pretty small and very pretty, so just take a walk through the center, you will find so many cute corners!

St. Peter Church: this is the cheapest way to see the city from above. If you’re a student it only costs 1€! Here you can get a full view of the Neues Rathaus.

Schloss Nymphenburg: a little outside from the city center you will find this amazing castle. Besides being incredibly beautiful, it’s surrounded by amazing gardens.

The Siegestor (Victory Gate): this appears not to be very famous among tourists, but if you have time you must come here. Also the neighborhood is really nice.

English Gardens: sadly we went there during winter, so we couldn’t really appreciate this beauty, but if you will come during spring or autumn you must come here!

Viktualienmark: near Marienplatz you will find this market where you can find a lot of amazing stuff, and lots of food also, which is always appreciated.

Neuschwanstein Castle: this place was the main reason of our visit. It’s very close to Munich, so you must plan to come here if you’re coming to Munich. We’re planning to write a detailed article about this castle, so check our blog soon if you’re interested!

Where to eat:

LAX Eatery: this place is pretty small but still very well designed. The food is so delicious! You must their acai bowl, P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N.

Hungriges Herz: this is the coziest place ever and the staff was so kind to us! Highly suggest their pancakes, they were delicious.

Hofbräuhaus: unfortunately the second time we went, the staff were not too kind to us just because we wanted to pay with credit card,  but I still feel like suggesting this place. The food is a little bit more expensive than other places, but this place is so unique so it’s fine. It’s so characteristic and there’s always live music playing!

Blue SPA Bar & Lounge: this is one of the best spot to catch a sunset in Munich, but other than the amazing view, the food is also so good! The curry chicken with rice and the mango soup were so delicious! You could also consider having breakfast or aperitivo here.

Where to stay:

Bayerischer Hof: the majority of the hotels are placed outside the city center, but this one is one of the few hotels really close to everything. The room was so big and well designed. There was also a radio in the bathroom, where you can select relaxing music in order to really enjoy a bubble bath after a day spend wandering around the city. You can also use their pool and sauna! In case you already booked another hotel, keep in mind that here there’s an amazing terrace where you can have an aperitivo, or if you feel like having a fancy dinner, here you can find three (yes, THREE) amazing classy restaurants. Oh and here you can find the European’s longest chandelier!
